For 2014, the Cream Legbar Club will be running a contest with a pair of chicks from the chickens that Greenfire Farms imported from Jill Rees’ winning flock in the UK as the prize.

We are excited to be able to offer this amazing prize.

The contest will only be open to Full Members of the Cream Legbar Club. Judges are not eligible for the prize.

As you can imagine a contest with a prize this fabulous is going to require a lot to win the contest. The person who wins will have the most ‘points’ as of June 30th 2014. Judging will most likely be completed by the end of July 2014.

Categories for earning points:

Knowledge Base -

• Big bad test of your knowledge of Cream Legbars and the Cream Legbar Club.

• Research that you do that adds to or expands knowledge about the breed - must be written in a form that could be printed in the newsletter and submitted for the contest

Membership Longevity -

• Years of Club membership

• credit for being a Charter Member

• Attend quarterly meeting

Service/Contribution to the Club

• Serving on a committee/committees

• Chairmanship of Committee

• Writing reports of committee activity

• Hours devoted to your club contributions

• Articles written for the newsletter

• Pictures submitted to the newsletter

• Attend an event about poultry, chickens, chicken raising, health, breeding etc. Make detailed report of what you learned so others can benefit.

Promotion of Cream Legbars/The Cream Legbar Club

• Host an event or have a table at an event

• Visit an organization to discuss Cream Legbars

• Write an article for a publication or local newspaper

Activities

• Participate in Meet or Show, show your Cream Legbar

• Sponsor a school, youth organization, activity, or similar

• Past participation in Club activity and contest - all your remaining 2013 points will carry forward to bolster your 2014 points.

Written Essays write about any or all of the following:

• What I’ve done for the Cream Legbar Club in 2013

• My view of the future for the Cream Legbar

• What I plan to do for the Cream Legbar Club this year

• Why I want to win the Greenfire Farms chicks and how I plan to use them

• other - your own subject that you feel passionately about.

Atta boys

• Write an email to the club in praise of a member that has helped you or is helping you*

• Get your committee chairperson to write an email about your stellar contribution

• Get other members to give you recognition

Other

• Like in college when you did an ‘Independent Study’ and designed your own curriculum, suggest to the contest judge(s) an activity that you will do that will promote Cream Legbars and/or the Cream Legbar Club - design your own...identify what the deliverable will be and submit it to the judges.

* Here’s an example...I could write an email and say: - “This email is in praise of Anne Norman who is really energetic and has bright eyes”. That’s nice - but that could also describe one of my chickens. More points would go to you and to Anne if you wrote: “ Anne works tirelessly for the club and produces superior newsletters and makes it look almost ‘easy’ but you know that a lot of the work has gone in behind the scenes. Add to that Anne has produced the Club’s handbook, all in all making the Club look really good, and providing a lot of extremely valuable information about the breed to anyone who cares to read the newsletter.” -- the specifics in the second one would garner more points for both parties. (Anne, hope you don’t mind I used you as an example of a praise email.)

All the photos, essays and other items are eligible for printing in the Club Newsletter. If you go to a show, or have a table, then record that, get photos, do a write up...each of those would be in categories that will earn points for you.
